Lightning Strike!

Love the Spring—I really do.  Everything is blooming and blossoming, and there’s a fresh sense of new beginnings in the air.

Okay, so I don’t like the stormy gales that accompany the now frequent rain showers—I really don’t.  Thunder, lightning, hail, sleet, power raindrops.  Confession that it all freaks me out, and I hope I’m safely inside somewhere when they happen.

Still, as a writer I am also fascinated by this natural turbulence and find inspiration in it all.  The powerful beauty of lightning crackling across the black sky at night.  The crashing thunder responding in answer, vibrating every fiber of your being.  So many of my characters reflect this awesome magnificence that no man can hope to duplicate.

Maybe this is a good life lesson—not to shudder in fear when the universe displays its power over us, but to stand back gaze upon it in humility and wonder.  To look upon it as a gift, and applaud its brilliant showcase.

And then smile when nature finishes its performance, then takes it bow with a shining rainbow.
